The Growth and Leadership Journey of the National Veterans Tournament (NVT)
Since its founding in 2015, the National Veterans Tournament (NVT) has evolved from a modest community gathering into the largest veterans soccer tournament in North America. Guided by visionary leadership and the unwavering commitment of veteran players and community organizers, the NVT has steadily expanded its reach, influence, and impact across the United States.
What began with just four teams in Laurel, Maryland, has grown into a nationwide movement that celebrates the enduring legacy of former soccer players while fostering community engagement, mentorship, and social impact through the beautiful game.

NVT Tournament Growth Timeline
Over the past decade, the NVT has been hosted in more than ten states across the United States, reflecting both the tournament’s expanding national footprint and the growing enthusiasm of local communities to honor veteran players and their contributions beyond the pitch.
Today, the NVT brings together teams and supporters from more than 20 U.S. states, with participation extending to Canada and members of the global football diaspora. Each edition of the tournament convenes hundreds of former professional and amateur players, community leaders, families, and supporters in a unique celebration of sport, unity, leadership, and service.
What started as a regional initiative has matured into a premier national platform where football heritage meets community impact, preserving the legacy of veteran players while inspiring the next generation through camaraderie, mentorship, and humanitarian engagement.
